Design often involves creating physical prototypes and models either for experimentation, ideation or presentation. The industrial design programme taught me how to work with different materials and techniques.
Below are some examples.
British Telephone Box
A 1:10 scale model interpretation of Sir Giles Gilbert Scott's classic telephone box using a combination of materials.
Punk Maracas
The brief of this exercise was to create a maracas for a chosen genre of music. As a challenge, I chose punk rock. With a total absence of any musical ability I experimented with metal materials to try to find the right sound. I then tried to create an appropriate aesthetic. The result was this leather clad steel maracas filled with metal pellets.
Guest House
A 1:6 scale cardboard model of a guest house.
Cibatool Sports Car
We were given blueprints to a toy sports car, and the task was to make a model using the material cibatool (a hard type of foam) and then place it it an environment using photoshop.
