BRIEF
Design and prototype a packaging for a chosen insect-based take away food which appeals to the consumer to try a sustainable protein alternative.
SUMMARY
The result of this project was cardboard cone container for holding tacos made using ant larvae. The friendly and subtle graphics and use of earthy colours and textures communicate the sustainability and also make it more likely to be chosen by the more sceptical customer.
We began by creating an inspiration board of what we thought was interesting on the market today, and looked at what we could strive to create. The cone shaped products caught our attention the most.
We then made another imageboard to gather our thoughts around the style of the final product.
After some sketching, we made an illustrator file with the final designs, and placed the cardboard in the lasercutter. The laser cuts through on the red lines shown below, and "engraves" the black/greyscale lines. We also added a "Did you know?" text to the opposite face of the packaging.
